1: Puppies are born deaf, blind, unable to smell and without any teeth! Even though dog's strongest sense is smell, it only develops when they're a few weeks old. Their eyes stay closed for their first 10 to 14 days of life and they begin teething at around 3 weeks.

2: More puppies than babies are born each day. We estimated that around 1.2 million puppies come into the world per day, versus "only" 360,000 babies!

3: The largest litter of puppies ever recorded was 24 and it was in the UK. Tia, a Mastiff, delivered15 males and 9 female puppies via C-section.

4: A handful of breeds, such as the English Bulldog, are unable to give birth naturally and need to have a C-section.

5: The size of a newborn puppy's paw is a really good indicator of their adult size. Generally speaking, the larger the puppy's paw, the bigger the dog will be.
